Hi, my name is Sam and I'm a newly graduated software developer based in Montreal, Canada. I completed my studies at Concordia University and graduated with a bachelor's degree in computer science while being in the coop program. When I'm not coding, you can find me playing Ultimate Frisbee, reading, or keeping active by going to the gym or on random adventures. Here's a timeline of my journey so far!▌
Full-Time at Morgan Stanley
After my second internship, I decided to come back to Morgan Stanley where I began my full-time career by joining their Americas Technology Analyst Program.
Last Summer at Concordia
Completed my Bachelor's degree by taking elective courses related to the ethical and innovative side of technology. Also took a course in Software Engineering Principles and Practices.
3rd Internship at Intact Financial Corporation
Started working at the Intact Lab, a small subdivision of Intact Financial Corporation, which operates in startup mode and works on more innovative projects. I worked as a Software Developer in the Claims Team and was mostly working on front-end development using React with Typescript, as well as TailwindCSS. At the same time, I took a course in Computer Vision with Professor Yang Wang.
Summer and Fall Courses
Following my internship, I returned to classes for a summer and fall semester. I took courses in Artificial Intelligence, Web Development, Databases, Computer Networks, Theoretical CS, and Advanced System Design. During my fall semester, I also took a course in Applied Machine Learning with professor Yue Li at McGill University and played Ultimate Frisbee for McGill's Varsity team!
2nd Internship at Morgan Stanley
Landed my second internship at Morgan Stanley as a Technology Analyst. Worked in the fixed income division on a project that involved text parsing using Natural Language Processing and Regular Expressions. Got more familiar with working in a larger enterprise environment and used technologies such as StanfordNLP and Apache Lucene. While working, I also took a course in Operating Systems.
Return to Classes
Returned to classes at Concordia University to continue my Bachelor's Degree. Took courses such as Data Structures and Algorithms, Programming Languages and Paradigms, Formal Methods in Software Engineering, and Elementary Numerical Methods. At the same time I continued working at Antea Part-Time until November 2021
